Pinning Project

Nooooooooooooo!
Got a case for my Storm Wolves, and had some extra room for my War Clowns. When I unpacked my bucket o' clowns I saw some pinning was in order.luckily last week Jman stopped by for a quick rumble and we discussed pinning. I had not done it before but it could not be easier.
First you drill a hole into each of the pieces you are trying to attach.
Then you superglue a paperclip into one side.
Okay, now you just cut the paperclip to a size that will fit into the hole you drilled on the other half. simple as pie. I super glued this arm back into the body. You can also go with gluing just one side so that you may remove it for packing.
Ahhhhh, my Necron Destroyer Lord with his Scarab Swarm Cape. Almost ready to get back in the action
Anybody else looking forward to the Necron release? I can't wait! I definitely got some repainting to do, or at least fix those details are not yet happy with (read as lightning). But as long as there is no new Codex I think my Necron's are gonna stay as my Holla army. you know the one I only play with when I'm drunk, my Storm Wolves are scorning me.

"Yes destroyer Lord, I will follow you to the new Codex!"

Went to paint, and a game broke out

Hello readers,
I went over to Games Workshop today put some colors onto those blood claws. I didn't get far though. The next guy to walk into the store was down for a 1000 point game. He was playing the mellow Marines. I brought my Storm Wolves.

The space Marines were set up as 2 tactical squads both with rhinos, a cog boy, 3 attack bikes in a single squad, and the whirlwind that always missed.

I almost had him tabled in three, and at the end of seven I own both objectives. He had three members of a tactical squad left, and I had all of my units still. He was diced pretty hard, but only on the offense. It was ugly, and I felt bad for him.

This little thousand pointer has a 3-1 record. It's very forgiving, and the predator takes such a large proportion of the fire. I I wish I could afford the points in the 2500 point Army to take a predator. I know it only draws fire for the first round or two, but that can be a lot of heavy weapons fire.

Haiku of the Day

Men, just boys at heart
They play with their toys of war
Boys, just men at heart.

Pistols Arrived!!

My space Wolf Army, The Storm Wolves, have yet to have their blood claw pack completed. The reason? Perhaps a little bit of planned procrastination. You see I've decided to run this blood claw pack with the wolf priest named The Gunslinger. This wolf priest is a two-fisted shooter, so I decided to make all the blood claws two-fisted shooters as well. Of course I needed to order some more bolt pistols to make this work. In eight short days I go in for wrist surgery on my right hand, and as long as I goes well I have surgery on my left wrist in about four months. I'm hoping to finish these blood claws before next Thursday. I will try to continue with content, but we'll see how I do. I can always enslave my children and wife and make them do my painting for me. Mwa ha ha ha ha!

I do all my blogging with Dragon software. It works well, although it is not as fast as typing. In addition you can be a real pain in the butt in certain situations.(I dictated "it" can be a pain, but true to form the program turned it around on me) either way I will keep these sweet pics coming, I'm excited to see how all my gunslingers will look when finished.

Off To The Paint Cave!

Grayhart's 2500 Storm Wolves

So are you ready to see the storm wolves? 2500 points of power armor horde? Me to!There she is in all her glory. Do armies get a feminine pronoun? For now I say yes, and this lady is ready to kick some butt. I'll give you the list, and in the breakdown. No more delay.

HEAVY SUPPORT

Long Fang Pack (5) missile launcher (3) lascannon (1) 130 (WG termi, cyclone)

Long Fang Pack (5) plasma cannon (2) heavy Bolter (2) 125 (WG termi, cyclone)

Villam the Black, and Gray Hunters
OK, here's a breakdown. Each Rune Priest gets a pack of Gray Hunter's. The Wolf Priest gets the blood claws. The Wolf guard got split out to lead each of the 10 packs. That's right-10 packs, each of them strong.
Irnest the Wise, and Gray Hunters
So I like to start with my scouts and their thunder Hammer Wolf guards in reserve. I also reserve one or two Gray Wolf packs , depending on the opponent. There are few pleasures as peer as running my wolf scouts "behind enemy lines". If you haven't played with the wolf scouts yet I highly recommend it. With thunder Hammer each unit totals at 143 points, and always pays dividends.
The Mighty Tempest, and Gray Hunters
My standard deployment starts with my blood claws in the middle, flanked by long fangs. Long fangs are in turn flanked by my two Rune priests with the PP Tempest (Villam and Tempest) and their attending Gray Hunter's. I then generally run Irnest up a flank with his Gray Hunter's.
The Gunslinger, and his Blood Claws

Whenever possible I allow my enemy to come to me. My optimum range for firing is 24 inches. Within that range due to my room priests it is difficult and dangerous terrain for jump of country, jet bikes and skimmers(tempests fury PP). If I am forced to take it to them they will have 99 space wolves running up the field.
Storm Wolves 2500, almost painted!
In my humble opinionthe best part of this Army is that your Force organization chart troops choices are filled out. That's right you have six troop units to grab objectives. It's also very forgiving Army that's fun to play.

Any thoughts?

Big Name, Big Price Tag

Grey Hunter

Hey all, I got a question for all you players out there. Do you really need a big name to consistently win?

I haven't spent any time in tournaments (yet :-)) but I think I'm pretty good at building armies, and my win percentage is well over 50%. Being an old-school curmudgeon, and all around cheap***, I can never bring myself to spend the points on a big-name character. Now I know Njal rock's, but he is such a target that he is just too expensive to make up for the two lower profile Rune Priests that I can field instead.

The Mighty Tempest(Rune Priest)

I mean I can see how Ragnar's additional attacks and furious charge can be devastating, but I can't see spending as much as it would cost me for Wolf Priest AND a 10 pack of Grey Hunters! Now I can see building the Logan Grimnar giving relentless to some MM long fangs, or a whole list of Wolf guard with combimelta's, but this seems more like a trick list and a one trick pony at that.

Wolf Scout

Am I the only one out here? Are there advantages that I'm just not seeing? What are you guys seeing out on the tournament scene? I am hoping to enter that scene soon, as long as her wrist surgery goes well, may the Emperor watch over me.

Now I will admit that I prefer a large number of ninjas, as opposed to betting on one soopa ninja. I like a lot of bodies on my side of the board. Not so much an orky horde, I like ninjas not thugs, but I hate the feeling that one or two bad roles can kill off 250+ points of my Army.

Irnest the Wise(Rune Priest)

Redundancy! Redundancy! And redundancy! I guess I kind of build armies like an accountant, it may not be as flashy as bustin out Logan Grimnar, but an extra pack of Grey Hunters is hard to throw away!

Grayhart out, raise that hatchet!
